Minister of Finance Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta has indicated that the mid-year budget review he is delivering in Parliament is without a supplementary budget.
This means, he explains, that there will not be any additional funds to be sought to cushion the economy.
“I am not here today to ask for more money,” he stressed.
“I have not come here today to ask for more taxes.”
He mentioned that he is just in Parliament to update Ghanaians on the state of the economy after the first half of the year.
His verdict is that “we are staying within the 2021 appropriation.”
He indicated that the economy is on a recovery trajectory and that is only the beginning of “our transformation agenda [which] is very much on course”.
