The National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi has emphasized that military officers deployed to Ejura were disguised members of pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vigilante members.
Two persons were shot dead, and others suffered gunshot wounds after military officers who were deployed to coil a violent demonstration by some youth of Ejura seeking justice for Ibrahim Mohamed known as Kaaka who was murdered in the community opened fire on the protestors
Ibrahim Mohamed known popularly as Kaaka was murdered by unknown assailants for allegedly fighting for development to Ejura as part of a social media campaign
The National and Ashanti Regional Executives of the NDC including Sammy Gyamfi, National Women Organizer Dr Hannah Bissiw, Deputy General Secretary Peter Boamah Otukonor, National Organizer Joshua Akambah, Ashanti Regional Communication Director Abass Nurudeen, Ashanti Regional Chairman Augustus Nana Akwasi and others on Thursday July 1, 2021 visited Ejura to commiserate with victims and families of the deceased persons.
Addressing the media, Sammy Gyamfi condemned the actions of the military officers resulting in the death of two persons.
According to him, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will fight for justice for the victims.Related Articles
“We are here demanding for justice for those who were killed and those who have been injured by the military officers deployed to Ejura. Per the information we have gathered on grounds, it shows that the military officers who were deployed to Ejura and shot into the demonstrators were not the regular military officers but bearded and earrings military officers who are members of NPP vigilante groups who have been integrated into the military force” Sammy Gyamfi disclosed.
“They are the same people behind the shooting and killing during the Ayawaso West Wougon by-elections, Techiman South elections, Ablekuma South and others. How long will the our security agencies will be used by government against the Citizens?”.
“We want justice in this matter to ensure the peace Ghanaians and the people of Ejura are demanding” Sammy Gyamfi added.
